What you'll find here
The Grip Crew Directory is a free list of working film and television grips across the country, searchable by city and by position. It covers the whole department:
- Key grips: running the grip department, working directly with the DP on how every shot gets shaped and supported.
- Best boy grips: second in the department, handling the crew, the truck and the order.
- Dolly grips: on the dolly, the track and the crane, moving camera.
- Rigging grips: pre-rig and strike, overheads, greenbeds, vehicle and stunt rigging.
- Company grips: the crew that makes a set run all day.
Plenty of the people here also list specialties beyond their main position, from aerial rigging and car rigging to welding, fabrication, condors and lifts, and their own package or truck.
How availability works
Nobody gets marked available by us. Grips confirm it themselves, and the freshest confirmations sit at the top, so the first names you see are the ones most likely to actually pick up the phone. Availability lapses on its own after two weeks, so nothing sits there stale.
That's the whole point of it. A directory of people who might be free is worth very little. A directory of people who said they were free this morning is worth a phone call.

It's free for grips, and it always will be
No grip has ever paid to be on this list and no grip ever will. There's no premium placement, no paying your way up the page, and no ranking anyone above anyone else. Companies can add their business name and a link to their card, but that doesn't change where they show up. That rule is the reason grips trust this list, and the trust is the only thing that makes it worth anything.
